Lavender surely was on his mind as Hippocrates, Father of Modern Medicine, taught that a daily aromatic bath and a scented massage would promote good health.
In 1928 Rene Gattefosse, a French research scientist discovered the remarkable healing properties of lavender oil by immediately applying it to a burn he received in a laboratory accident. He later coined the term “aromatherapy”.
“I love the lavender oil. It has many uses. It’s great for cuts, for burns, for relaxation. I also use it for allergy. I put 2 drops on the bottom of my feet morning and night. Two more drops in my plam. I apply it to my temples, my forehead, the back of my neck, what’s left on my tangue, the inhalation process. It’s absolutely wonderful and I am ready to go for the day,” says a lavender fan.
Today doctors begin to realize the remarkable effects of essential oils, especially lavender oil, in the treatment of poor circulation, irregular blood pressure. Lavender is commonly used in pain management and stress reduction.
